Flight of the Butterflies Begins…..

I have had a long hard life when it comes to my health but a wonderful life when it comes to my family, husband & friends. I was diagnosed with Lupus when I was 17 years old and lost kidney function by the time I was 19 years old. I was on dialysis for 8 years, with lots of other serious medical problems in those 8 years. I got a kidney transplant when I was 28 years old from my brother and that lasted 10 ½ wonderful years. So I am now on dialysis again for 2 years and I am on a few lists for a transplant. Last year was one of the worst years of my life, I was in 3 comas, had 2 operations, was on oxygen 24/7 and lost 40 lbs. My intestine ruptured, so the doctors put me in an induced coma and I got a colostomy bag. Then when the 6 months was up and I was scheduled for the reversal, it ruptured again and once again the doctors put me an induced coma but this time I ended up with a permanent ileostomy bag. Then, on Halloween day, my body shut down and just went into a coma all by itself. The doctors told my family that they weren’t sure if this would affect my brain, so they just prayed. I woke up about a week later with no problems and everyone was amazed but I still had a long road before I was okay. Now, 6 months later, I am doing so much better, still on dialysis, still have an ileostomy bag, But I am finally putting on weight, I am 100% off oxygen and I feel stronger. I am back doing what I love to do and that is photography and being with my husband, family & friends. I thank God everyday for his blessings.

Lupus In Color is excited to present Iris’ story to the world. As a Lupus Warrior she is actively promoting lupus awareness and wearing the armor of strength in doing so. Lupus In Color Salutes you Iris Christy Acevedo.

I do agree with all the concepts you have presented for your post.
They are really convincing and can definitely work.
Nonetheless, the posts are too brief for starters.

May you please extend them a bit from next time? Thanks for the
    post.
