Flight of the Butterflies is a lupus awareness campaign sharing stories of the brave lupus warriors. Many don’t understand lupus until they hear the walk of a warrior. Flight of the Butterflies is dedicated to sharing those stories in May for lupus awareness month.

I’m Ricardo “Ricky” Rodriguez I’ve been fighting this evil Disease for over 20 years. First, my doctors had no idea what was wrong with me. I was being treated for arthritis and they weren’t worried about me being sensitive to the sun. Not until the ulcers in my mouth and the butterfly rash appeared. At that point I was diagnosed with lupus SLE. A few years later I suffered two strokes. A few years after that, I suffered a heart attack and now two years ago lupus took my kidneys. I refuse to surrender, I will never stop fighting for I am a Lupus warrior! There’s only 10% of the lupus population who are male and I am one of them! Lupus warrior – Ricky
