World Arthritis Day 2018: World Arthritis Day 2018 is observed on October 12. This day is exclusively meant to raise awareness about arthritis, a condition which affects millions of people across the world. Arthritis is an inflammatory condition of joints.
On World Arthritis Day, the idea is to raise awareness about arthritis and how it affects lives of people who suffer from it. This day was started by World Arthritis Foundation in order to spread awareness about arthritis and encourage policymakers to help reduce burden of arthritis. The theme of World Arthritis Day this year is “It’s in your hands, take action.”
Lupus arthritis is caused by inflammation. After a long time of uncontrolled lupus, however, people can have damage in the joints which causes problems even when the lupus is not flaring.
Arthritis is a common symptom of lupus (systemic lupus erythemaosus). Inflammatory arthritis is also the hallmark of rheumatoid arthritis. The arthritis of lupus tends to be less destructive than the arthritis of rheumatoid arthritis. However, there is a genetic link between rheumatoid arthritis and lupus, and a person may experience features of both these two distinct diseases.
When a person has two independent diseases, it’s called comorbidity. According to one article, the lupus/rheumatoid arthritis comorbidity might be based in genetics.
Just one gene in your body may cause both lupus and arthritis.
