THE 7TH ANNUAL FLIGHT OF THE BUTTERFLIES
Flight of the Butterflies is a lupus awareness campaign sharing stories of the brave lupus warriors. Many don’t understand lupus until they hear the walk of a warrior. Flight of the Butterflies is dedicated to sharing those Butterfly of Hope stories in May for lupus awareness month.
Flight of the Butterflies Begins…..
Flight of the Butterfly Stacy Compton
I was diagnosed with lupus at 34 years old. I am now 57. I have had acute pericarditis and admitted to the intensive care unit of the hospital three times. I feel like I am in a constant flareup. Every single day I have joint pain and skin rashes and fatigue.
I have worked for Southwest Airlines for 20 years now and through the support of my coworkers, my family, my husband, I have made it this far.
I have always been afraid of flying and last year I decided that life is very short and I needed to face my fear of flying so I decided to learn how to fly myself. I love it, it makes me feel alive, and very very happy.
Thank you for bringing all of us together and for putting together the Lupus collage. It really helps a lot to have that kind of support around me. I hope you have an amazing day.
Lupus In Color is excited to present Misty Jenkins’ story to the world. As a Lupus Warrior she is actively promoting lupus awareness and wearing the armor of strength in doing so.
