We had a great Lupus In Color Support Group meeting. We talked about using coloring to keep us calm in our lupus fights.
Coloring is a powerful tool. It can calm your mind, relax your body, alleviate depression, and distract you from pain. This state can promote healing, creativity and overall well being.
We also talked about learning how our brain works in quelling pain and reacting to lupus issues.
It is know that coloring has the ability to relax the fear center of your brain, the amygdala. The amygdala, region of the brain is primarily associated with emotional processes. The amygdala plays a prominent role in mediating many aspects of emotional learning and behavior.
Finally we colored and discussed how the tools we use can help us respond differently to our pain. Tools such as coloring, changing mindsets, exercising and understanding our bodies and how they work.
