THE 9TH ANNUAL FLIGHT OF THE BUTTERFLIES
Butterflies of Hope Warrior Stories
Flight of the Butterflies, Butterflies of Hope Warrior Stories is a lupus awareness campaign sharing stories of the brave lupus warriors. Many don’t understand lupus until they hear the walk of a warrior. Flight of the Butterflies, Butterflies of Hope Warrior Stories is dedicated to sharing those stories in May for lupus awareness month.
Flight of the Butterfly Debra Dinnald
Hello, my name is Debra and I have had Lupus for 22 years now. I found out when I was six months pregnant with a baby girl. They told me that my baby would not live and advised me to have an abortion. That wasn’t going to happen, I felt like I had carried my baby for six months and three more months would be a breeze. But, it wasn’t. it was the worst months of my pregnancy. When the time came for me to deliver my baby I was admitted into the hospital and my labor was induced. When my daughter came out the doctor wasn’t in the room so her head was out on the table and the rest of her body was still inside of me. When the doctor finally got there, my daughter was already out, so all he had to do was get the placenta out. It didn’t work out as plan, he left some of it inside of me and a couple of days after I was released I was admitted back in the hospital for an emergency D&C and blood transfusion.
After that my life went from living to surviving. Never knowing how I would feel when I woke up.
As time went on and after 16 years of being married my ex came to me after one of my Lupus flare stays at the hospital. he said that he could not take it anymore and he was leaving and he left me with two small children. My daughter had Congenital Heart Blockage and a Pace Maker.
I felt like he had abandoned me and his children. I did not want to live anymore, I became very depressed and I felt like a failure and tried several times to kill myself. The last time I tried to kill myself, I woke up in ICU on a breathing machine. Since then I have never tried to kill myself.
I’m writing a 10-book series about my life and what i did to survive on my own. I’m also looking for a screenwriter who can assist me to make a pilot with hopes of a network picking it up.
This is only a little sample of how hard my life was and still is, but I have learned how to somewhat survive.
Thank You for letting me share my story
