May 12th Lupus Fact

Lupus may cause hair to break easily. Inflammation of the skin is often an early sign of lupus that usually results in thinning of the hair and loss of eyelashes, eyebrows, facial hair, and body hair. Hair may grow back with treatment. However, permanent hair loss occurs when lesions form on the scalp. Hair loss and thinning hair can also be side effects of certain medicines used to treat lupus, like steroids and immunosuppressives.
Some people choose to wear wigs, some use accessories like headscarves, and others choose to embrace their thinning hair with low cuts.
This is your twelfth Butterfly of Hope.
We need awareness! We need a cure!
Encourage everyone you know to let it FLY!
