According to the Lupus Foundation of America, the average time to receive a diagnosis of lupus is 6 years.
This is because lupus symptoms can mimic those of other conditions, and the disease can manifest differently in different people. Additionally, there is no single test that can definitively diagnose lupus, so doctors often have to rely on a combination of blood tests, physical exams, and patient history to make a diagnosis.
