Gratitude Challenge

In November let’s focus on our gratitude. Let’s talk about what gratitude is today.

Practicing gratitude can change your lupus life. Gratitude is defined as a feeling of appreciation or thanks. Gratitude is not toxic positivity. In fact, it’s the opposite. Toxic positivity is the act of invalidating and dismissing negative emotions with false encouragements (instead of empathy and genuine care). The main pillar of gratitude is acknowledging what is good, not ignoring what is bad. being grateful is the feeling, practicing gratitude is the action. Practicing gratitude involves cultivating thankfulness in your life through a combination of healthy habits, coping mechanisms, and time management. It is a way for you to enjoy life just a little more.

It can help you heal from trauma and bad incidents in life. Lupus can be so cruel and realizing how far you come can help you heal.
Gratitude benefits overall well being. Creating a healthy environment for your mind, body and soul is important to your overall health.

If the idea of beginning a gratitude practice feels overwhelming or cheesy, keep in mind that it doesn’t have to be difficult. You can start small by setting aside time each day to think or write about three things that you’re grateful for or writing a gratitude letter once a week. This 30 day gratitude practice requires reflection and stillness, two things that can be difficult in our busy, overstimulated everyday lives. Try it with us, after all you’ve got nothing to lose, and so much to gain! #lupusincolor
