Hi I ‘m Tonya Noel and I have had lupus since the age 9 and that’s 46 years.
The hardest part about my journey on lupus is I haven’t worked in almost 3 years. I’m a caterer and cake artist. My hands had gotten where they would cramp and have extreme pain.
I have learned that I have strength that I couldn’t never imagine that I had.
It made me focus on myself and to stop down playing my illness to fit in with the so called normal people.
My advice to a person that has just been diagnosed is never give up hope. Keep believing and keep fighting. There are going to be some extreme painful days but keep pushing and this will be your testimony in your journey. Listen to your doctors but always remember it’s a higher power (God) that is going to lead you through this cruel process.
There will be good days and enjoy them but try not to overdo it because you will pay for it the next couple of days. You can manage this disease but make sure you have a stable mindset.
My family and friends motivate me so therefore it makes me strong. Doctors told me I would not live pass my twenties but I’m still here after losing a kidney, had 7 major strokes, been in a coma for 3 1/2 months and over 50 hospitalizations.
The things that my doctors witnessed me go through restored their faith in God and they believe in miracles.
That is one of my purpose in life. I’m a walking miracle. I became Ms Lupus International 2021-2024 with Gibson Lupus Arc. What better way to represent your illness. I’m a mentor to young kids that find out they have lupus and I’m definitely advocating all over social media.
