Flight of the Butterflies is a lupus awareness campaign sharing stories of the brave lupus warriors. Many don’t understand lupus until they hear the walk of a warrior. Flight of the Butterflies is dedicated to sharing those Butterfly of Hope stories in May for lupus awareness month.
Butterfly Flight Megan Lee
My name is Megan Lee, I’m 52, married for 14 years, divorced 9 years now (from a narcissist). I am a single mom to 3 beautiful boys, ages 23, 22 and 19. I raised them alone from ages 18 months, 2.5 and 5 years of age.
I was diagnosed with SLE on 4/1/10. Since then MCTD, Osteoarthritis, Raynauds, bullous systemic lupus erythematosus (starting 2015) and squamous cell carcinoma twice on my nose) have all joined the party. I’ve had carpel tunnel surgery, bursitis surgery and last year a triple spinal fusion with a cervical fusion in the next few months all due to degenerative disc disease.
Having the courage and strength to fight on comes from my 3 beautiful boys. I struggle each day but my gratitude of God’s blessings and my family keep me positive to keep trucking. And of course your presence as a strong, amazing mentor and educator are truly a lifeline for me each day!
