Through the eyes and hearts of lupus warriors, we share stories that often go unseen. Stories of pain, resilience, and triumph! These butterflies may have been battered by the storm, but they continue to rise, wings open, ready to soar.

I was diagnosed with UCTD in November 2022, diagnosis revised to SLE in March 2026.
Before lupus, my life was pretty “normal.” I didn’t have to plan ahead to do small things, or make sure I had sun protection. Now, I have to assess my energy levels daily and plan activities based off of how much energy I have, and how much energy the activities require. I’ve also learned to not overspend energy, even on better days, because it sometimes sets me back the next day. There is a lot of planning involved!
Adjusting to the changes I’ve had to make to manage my lupus has been a huge challenge. I was also stuck in the grief phase for a long time. The biggest gamechanger for me was starting cognitive behavioral therapy.
On more difficult days, I try to remind myself that I WILL have better days! I have learned to give myself grace and not be hard on myself for things that I am not physically able to do that day.
If you have recently been diagnosed, it can be overwhelming at first. You WILL learn how to live with it! It WILL get better emotionally! Learn to give yourself grace, and remember that you are a warrior!
