Who Are You

Who are you to criticize how I bring awareness to a disease that has altered my life?
Who are you to tell me that my way of getting the word out about the ills of what lupus does to me?
Who are you to assume that I am being dishonest in saying how I feel when I tell you the truth about my feelings?
Who are you to compare my lupus to another disease in hopes that it will make me see how small it is to you?
Who are you to constantly chastise me for being sick?
Who are you to always act as if illness can not come to you because you are well?
Who are you to tell me that I should not take prescribed medicine because it’s killing me?
Who are you to believe that you know the cure and I haven’t been searching?
Who are you to talk about me to others when you know not what I struggle with daily?
Who are you to tell me how to do fight, how to spread awareness, how to care and support?

Who are you?
Who are you?
Who are you?

I know who I am! I am a fighter, an advocate, a supporter, awareness, an encourager, a courage monger, a spirit lifter, a soul searcher, a mom, a dad, a daughter, a son, an uncle, an aunt, a grandmother, a grandfather, a lover, a friend and a warrior that battles lupus everyday to live simply in the moment. I know who I am, but I’m not sure who you are to me when you do things that harm me more than help me as I battle in the fight of my life.
