5 Ways to Invite Peace on Your Lupus Journey
- Let go of worrying about lupus
First, schedule time to worry. Give yourself 15- 20 minutes and then put your mind elsewhere. You can do some chores or listen to music. Do whatever it takes to let it go. Don’t torture yourself with worrying about what lupus has done and what lupus has yet to do. - Stop blaming yourself for lupus
Lupus is not your fault. You did not cause lupus to invade your body and you shouldn’t be made to feel that way. You didn’t have control of how lupus manifested in your body. You don’t have to beat yourself up for things out of your control. - Take deeper breaths
Take deeper breaths daily and remember lupus has its ups and downs. The purpose of deep breathing is to calm your mind, emotions and relax your body. Deep breaths can calm your anxiety over lupus and help in coping. - Pause in your day
Taking time to stop and pause in your day helps you gather yourself. Moments of stillness and silence promote a feeling of rest. A pause creates an atmosphere to meditate and invite some peace into your moments. - Write it down
Write down your worries and your fears so you can physically let it go. Letting things that bother you go helps to instill peace within you. You can only find peace when you confront the issues and consciously take action to create peace in that moment.
On your lupus journey, lupus doesn’t have to destroy your inner peace. We all can use more calm on our lupus journeys. Living more deliberately in moments, making choices that feel good & having a more positive mindset can help in creating a more peaceful you beyond lupus. Take a moment to invite peace into your life as you walk on this lupus journey.
