Through the eyes and hearts of lupus warriors, we share stories that often go unseen. Stories of pain, resilience, and triumph! These butterflies may have been battered by the storm, but they continue to rise, wings open, ready to soar.
At Lupus In Color, we honor each journey as a flight of courage and beauty, reminding the world that even in the midst of lupus, warriors still fly.

2021 was the year I was diagnosed. Life for me prior to Lupus I was always on the go and a very active person who loved to dance and do arts and crafts. I loved the social lifestyle I had. I have traveled a lot places. Since the diagnosis I feel my love for activities as well as my social life has taken a downhill spiral, I literally don’t want to do anything at times.
Then there are days where I want to do everything and after I do my body shuts down which is frustrating. Having lupus can really make you feel like just giving up because you just want to have that normal life you once had back again.
One of my biggest challenges is coming to terms that this illness is my new life. Before, I was so angry I cried so much!! So at this point, I’m learning how to adapt and breathe. This is out of my control. I said to myself I have to find a way to keep living despite the circumstances.
What helps me is listening to music,reading, and finding a hobby. One of my passions is gardening, I can’t do it like I used to but it helps. A lot of self care is necessary. At some point I had to find a support group even if I didn’t say anything at first. Just hearing people’s stories puts things in perspective.
Because this journey gets very lonely and people can be insensitive to your situation.
For someone newly diagnosed I would suggest giving yourself some GRACE. My favorite message “Even in the Hopeless Case there is Always HOPE”
Jesus is the potter and I’m clay my precious lord is molding me to see a better day!
