Through the eyes and hearts of lupus warriors, we share stories that often go unseen. Stories of pain, resilience, and triumph! These butterflies may have been battered by the storm, but they continue to rise, wings open, ready to soar.
At Lupus In Color, we honor each journey as a flight of courage and beauty, reminding the world that even in the midst of lupus, warriors still fly.

For two decades, I was dismissed and misdiagnosed. In 2020, I was finally diagnosed with lupus, and that diagnosis changed everything. It changed how I move through daily life, caused me to miss moments with my husband and three children, and forced me to grieve the life I thought I would have.
But lupus also gave me purpose. If I struggled that long to be heard, I knew others were still fighting silently. What began as sharing my story became a mission to make lupus visible in West Virginia.
After surviving a seizure, an ICU stay, and learning to walk again, my goal as Mrs. West Virginia Captivating is to walk across the national stage this fall one last time in heels — to show others that hard things can still be done with grace, grit, and hope.
Lupus is hard. Learning that it is okay if everything does not get finished has been difficult, but it is something I now embrace. My journey is not just about illness. It is about resilience, purpose, and making sure others know they are being heard.
