Flight of the Butterflies Kelly Perhach

14th Annual Flight of the Butterflies- Butterflies of Hope Lupus Warrior Stories is a powerful celebration of strength, survival, and spirit. Through the eyes and hearts of lupus warriors, we share stories that often go unseen. Stories of pain, resilience, and triumph! These butterflies may have been battered by the storm, but they continue to rise, wings open, ready to soar.

At Lupus In Color, we honor each journey as a flight of courage and beauty, reminding the world that even in the midst of lupus, warriors still fly.

Flight of the Butterflies

Lupus Warrior Kelly Perhach

My name is Kelly Perhach. When I was diagnosed with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus and Bullous Systemic Lupus Erythematosus in 2019, I didn’t even know what lupus was. I had a rough start—facing many medication allergies and countless doctor appointments—but I was fortunate to receive a diagnosis.

With my family and friends—the ones who stuck around and never left my side—and through the Lupus Foundation of America, Greater Ohio Chapter. I found strength, support, and purpose.

Like so many lupus warriors, I have been through a lot—and we continue to fight. Even when people judge us because they don’t see anything wrong, they have no idea what we’re battling inside. When we say “I’m fine,” sometimes it’s just a polite way of crying out for help—but many of us don’t want to feel like a burden.

Never judge what you don’t know or understand.

I fight for lupus warriors everywhere, including myself. I am determined to help find a cure through fundraising, spreading awareness, and supporting the mission.
