Lupus In Color
12th Annual Flight of the Butterflies
Spreading Lupus Awareness One Butterfly at a time
Let this butterfly flutter all over cyberspace!
Lupus is a chronic disease that requires expensive long-term treatment. The estimated average annual cost of treatment for a person with lupus is nearly $33,223. Approximately $50,000 is lost annually by each lupus patient in healthcare and lost productivity, this includes partial to full loss of income. Undoubtedly, the financial burden of this disease is huge for everyone it affects. Many patients face financial struggles when it comes to covering their treatment.
A Lupus Foundation of America survey found two of three lupus patients reported a complete or partial loss of their income because they no longer are able to work full time due to complications of lupus. One in three have been temporarily disabled by the disease, and one in four currently receive disability payments.
May is Lupus Awareness Month, dedicated to raising awareness of a complex disease and supporting those affected by it!
This is your 17th Butterfly of Hope.
We need awareness! We need a cure!
Encourage everyone you know to let it FLY!
